The Lilac Festival & more Mission & Bridgeland events

It’s that time of year when the frost melts away and you cannot wait to get outside and enjoy your neighbourhood again.  If you are looking for some fun outdoor events to encourage quality family time, or even if it’s just for you, look no further.

Sunday, May 27th, from 10:00 am to 6:oo pm, is the 23rd annual 4th Street Lilac Festival.  Last year saw over 125,000 people come out to enjoy the wide array of entertainers that were featured on stages and entertainment zones in the heart of the Mission district.  Having been voted “Calgary’s best free festival” by FFWD (Calgary’s News & Entertainment Weekly), you do not want to miss the more than 500 craft, food and entertainment vendors that line up along the 13 blocks of the festival running down 4th street.

This year’s entertainment lineup looks great and we’re proud that Tribeca by Bucci is sponsoring the 20th Ave stage which includes the entertainment of No River, Magnetic North, JD Edwards, Art Kenyon, and Short of Able.

For all the runners in the city, the 2012 Scotiabank Calgary Marathon is approaching; held on Sunday, May 27th, this premier running event offers a Neighbourhood Spirit Challenge, entertainment, and volunteer opportunities.  Learn more on the Bridgeland Riverside Community Association site.
