Construction Superintendent – Entroterra Project
This is a full-time role for an experienced Wood Frame Construction Superintendent to lead our Entroterra project. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in wood and concrete construction, with a proven track record of successfully completing multiple six-storey projects.
The position is an active role, meaning the candidate must be physically fit and capable of walking, climbing, and navigating an active construction project. The candidate will be expected to regularly operate equipment, execute general construction tasks themselves, and perform field-level work while maintaining the duties of a Construction Superintendent. As required from time to time, the candidate will need to use their own vehicle to pick up materials, supplies, or small rental items. In exchange, we are happy to offer a vehicle allowance. Computer skills in MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Project, Adobe, and MS Word are a must. We expect the candidate to have a strong command of the English language, both written and verbal, as we heavily rely on our field team to communicate daily progress, issues, and solutions to senior team members. Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Site Management
- Organize and manage all aspects of site activity necessary to construct the designated project as per design and specifications.
Human Resources Administration
- Interview and select workers for hire with approval from the Construction Manager.
- Ensure that site rules and safety procedures are communicated to all workers.
- Keep records of hours worked for all on-site staff and submit to accounting for payment.
- Manage and direct foremen and workers for the successful completion of critical path activities.
Accounting & Budget Management
- Provide input to the Construction Manager during preconstruction phases.
- Monitor and approve invoices and expenses with assistance from the Project Coordinator to ensure costs remain within budget.
- Keep track of supplies, tools, and materials to ensure timely delivery and prevent theft.
Project Coordination & Compliance
- Review design documents and specifications to advise on project sequencing and constructability.
- Work with the Construction Manager to advise on schedules, budgets, variances, and potential alternative methods and materials.
- Liaise with project consultants to clarify design intent through a Request for Information and Site Instruction process.
- Address concerns raised by consultants regarding workmanship and code compliance.
- Review, revise, or recommend Change Orders, Claims for Delay, and other subcontractor communications.
- Provide input to the Construction Manager on the Shop Drawing review process.
- Liaise with Authorities Having Jurisdiction or designated professionals regarding site inspections and permits.
Safety & Quality Assurance
- Follow and enforce Bucci’s comprehensive site safety plan to ensure the protection of all on-site personnel and the public.
- Work with the Customer Service Manager to coordinate pre-occupancy walkthroughs and attend to deficiencies as defined by the home warranty provider.
Stakeholder & Community Relations
- Interface with neighbors to minimize complaints and objections.
- Promote and protect the Bucci corporate brand.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other functions as reasonably requested by Bucci or ancillary to the above.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience in wood and concrete construction.
- Experience leading six-storey+ projects.
- Strong physical fitness to navigate an active construction site, including walking, climbing, and operating equipment.
- Ability to use a personal vehicle for material pickup as required (vehicle allowance provided).
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Project, Adobe, and MS Word.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Professionalism, teamwork, and a commitment to maintaining strong industry relationships.
